CAMARB manages dispute resolution procedures related essentially to commercial law, comprising corporate matters, construction law, mining, energy and agribusiness industries, as well as commercial and international contracts. CAMARB has excelled in handling cases involving public entities, mainly in infrastructure disputes. 

CAMARB offers to the market three different paths of arbitration procedures: ordinary, expedited and labour-related, besides having specific rules for emergency arbitration. Furthermore, the 2018 Mediation Rules and the 2017 Dispute Boards Rules are in force and currently being reviewed to reflect the market’s best practices. Said rules provides for multi-party arbitration and consolidation of proceedings — matters of utter importance, considering that the bipolarity traditionally associated with arbitration is no longer the rule, in view of the increasing complexity of disputes. Regarding disputes involving public entities, CAMARB offers procedural rules that value absolute transparency in arbitrations and mediations with the participation of the public entities, especially after Resolution 22/22, providing for the public information of the members of the arbitral tribunals.

In addition to the already existing four thematic committees (Energy, Infrastructure, Bankruptcy, M&A and Corporate Restructuring), CAMARB just released its newest project: the Environment, Social and Governance Committee. The ESG Committee has Working Groups focused on, but not limited to, sustainability, equality, diversity, and compliance in ADR, which is and shall be the rule onwards.

Next year, CAMARB will celebrate the 15^th edition of the Brazilian Commercial Mediation and Arbitration Moot. It has been an effective way to encourage students and young practitioners to learn and deepen their practical knowledge of arbitration and mediation, as well as create and strengthen networking. About 15,000 students and professionals have already experienced the CAMARB Competition and had the chance of learning with it.

Guided by the cornerstones of Operation Arbiter, an effort that gave rise to the Brazilian Arbitration Act, CAMARB has been focused in providing services with excellence, aiming at user satisfaction, both technically and economically, and legal certainty.
